Fragmentation and the Family

To be sure, it's not likely to go back to the way it was.
That being said, we have to wonder what the future will be...
At AmericanThinker.com, Deana Chadwell recently wrote about "family". She begins:
"Time was when society was a fairly simple arrangement. There were Noah and his wife and the three sons and their wives. That mini-society obviously worked well, because in just a few hundred years, human beings found the time to build giant monuments. Babel complicated things, but still, people split up and went their own ways and continued to populate the Earth.

But now there are close to 320 million of us in this country alone, the internet has us all sitting in each other's laps, and our ability to function intelligently and cohesively is getting lost in the shuffle."

The Opioid Lawsuit Circus

If this is true, I bet you didn't know it...
I found this in an article by Betsy McCaughey at Spectator.org:
"Pinning the entire overdose crisis on drug companies is scapegoating. It ignores scientific evidence that the biggest cause of opioid deaths are illegal drugs like fentanyl and heroin that are trafficked to young people. Prescriptions for high doses of opioids needed for chronic pain are down 41% since 2010. Yet overdose deaths are higher than ever. Medical users are not the ones overdosing. Harvard and John Hopkins researchers find a minuscule six-tenths of one percent of patients prescribed opioids after surgery misuse them."

Media and the Rise of Homosexuality

Regardless of your personal choice or opinions, this does seem to be accurate...
At AmericanThinker.com, Mike Konrad offers this and more:
"So within a short period from 1967 to 1976, the media could move the public to accept homosexual rights. Rod Stewart released 'The Killing of Georgie,' a song about the murder of a New York homosexual, and it got major airplay, something which would have been unthinkable nine years earlier.

There can be no doubt that Hollywood and New York were the most influential centers of art in the Western world, though that may be changing. Leveraging this influence, the embedded 'homosexual mafia' changed the United States, which then started the ball rolling to change the world. Hence… India, which has just legalized gay sex.

A small 'homosexual mafia' has foisted itself on the planet, and quite successfully. The key was their control of the media."

The Elephant at the Southern Border

Personally, I'm not fond of "must read" articles.
That being said, I would grant this one an exception...
At AmericanThinker.com, Robert Weissberg writes about low IQ immigrants and more. I'm sure some will say unkind things about his thoughts:
"Such intellectual insufficiencies almost guarantee widespread Bernie Sanders-style demagogy, a world where voters embrace free lunches thanks, supposedly, to an endless supply of billionaires agreeable to being fleeced. Campaigns will see rivals competing to be Santa Claus, as if every alluring benefit were an unalienable government-funded right. Pandering office-seekers will also demand that government just get rid of 'bad things' regardless of cost or legal obstacles. Just try to convince those of limited intelligence why eliminating all sexual harassment invites totalitarian cures far worse than the offending behavior. Does the concept 'totalitarian' mean anything to those stymied by 4th-grade reading lessons?"

Google Turned Out Latino Voters They Thought Would Vote for Clinton

We have been, are being, and will always be manipulated in some fashion.
Some methods, such as supermarket product placement, are easily noticed.
Television ads that are "too good to be true", with disclaimers we can't read, are another.
And then there is Google...
At Breitbart.com, Matthew Boyle recently wrote quite a bit about their manipulative efforts:
"The main email, headlined, “Election results and the Latino vote,” was sent on Nov. 9, 2016—the day after Clinton’s loss to Trump in the 2016 presidential election—by Eliana Murillo, Google’s Multicultural Marketing department head.
The four page email begins with Murillo claiming she and others at Google were engaged in non-partisan activities not designed to help any one candidate or another—only to undercut her own commentary in later passages in the emails by openly admitting the entire effort to boost Latino turnout using Google products with official company resources was to elect Clinton over Trump."

Environmental red tape stalls border agents trying to fill drug-smuggler tunnels

Oh my. Try to wrap your mind around this...
On the FoxNews website, Alex Pappas recently wrote about this:
"Environmental red tape is causing 'long delays' for border agents as they try to fill tunnels used to smuggle people and dangerous drugs into the U.S. from Mexico, according to border officials and Republican lawmakers who have discussed the problem with agents. Frustrated agents complain the lengthy federal review process can stall critical tunnel-plugging efforts for months after passageways are first discovered.

The tunnels are being used to move people, illegal drugs and even fake pharmaceuticals. But regulations stemming from laws like the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act are putting 'remediation' on hold. "

Is Donald Trump right about military tribunals? (opinion)

This is an old opinion article.
That being said, we are in interesting times.
Enemies of the state apparently qualify for military tribunals...
This was written by Kayleigh McEnany back when she was a guest commentator on CNN:
"As the Washington Times points out, the eight co-conspirators of John Wilkes Booth, President Abraham Lincoln's assassin, were all tried in military court. Lincoln's attorney general reasoned that this was permissible since they had associated with an enemy of the Untied States and had violated the laws of war, the universally accepted rules and customs for engaging in conflict."

32 Sheep found In Paris Suburb Ahead of Islamic Ritual Festival

Coming to America?...
I got this post by Chris Tomlinson at Breitbart.com:
"The animals were found in the commune of Drancy, which is located in the heavily migrant populated Seine-Saint-Denis suburbs to the north of Paris which have become well-known for having a large Muslim population. The seized sheep were taken to an animal shelter in Chailly-en-Brie, Le Parisien reports. While adherents of the Islamic faith are allowed to engage in ritual halal slaughter for Eid al-Adha, by French law they must do so in a controlled environment at a recognized slaughterhouse both for hygiene reasons and to combat potential animal cruelty.

The discovery was not the only one of hidden sheep intended to be slaughtered over the Islamic festival. In Clichy-sous-Bois and Montfermeil, police were tipped off by the association for the defence of animals and found five more sheep located at three separate addresses."

President Trump, You Are No JFK

This article is not Trump negative as you might be thinking...
Humberto Fontova posted a kind of history review at Townhall.com, closing with:
"But AH!--two months earlier this same Leader of the Free World had made a different pledge to Khrushchev, ensuring anything but a Cuba Libre; promising, in fact, that Havana would remain Communist, as enforced by U.S. arms.

And the following fifty years showed which pledge the U.S. honored. The pledge to the Butcher of Budapest to preserve Castroite Stalinism has proven sacrosanct--while the pledge of liberty to the men who risked their lives to warn the U.S. of the greatest threat in her history was trashed. Mimi Alford, on the other hand, claims the president was always perfectly honest with her."

Progressive Delusions

Seems about right to me.
Problem is it's going to take a long time to correct the balance...

At AmericanThinker.com, Thomas O'Malley expanded on his college experience:
"When I was in college, a liberal professor drew a diagram on the blackboard. It was a scale, with the right side more heavily weighted than the left. He claimed this was a representation of how money and power are on the side of the right in the United States.

I was astonished. How could someone say something so obviously untrue? And yet my former professor isn’t alone. Millions of Americans agree with him despite all evidence to the contrary.

Progressives really do believe that the right has more money and power than the left."

Swedish State TV: 58 Percent of Those Convicted of Rape Foreign Born

Sweden is lost and has lost.
You know: Different cultures have different ideas about women.
But, what about the laws?...
On the BBC website you can read about this mess:
"About 58% of men convicted in Sweden of rape and attempted rape over the past five years were born abroad, according to data from Swedish national TV. Public broadcaster SVT said it had counted all court convictions to present a complete picture in Sweden. But Sweden had thousands more reported rapes, and there is no ethnic breakdown for those. Immigration and crime are major issues in Sweden's general election campaign. The vote is on 9 September."

Judge Tells New Citizens to ‘Take A Knee’

Judges are a significant part of "the Swamp"...
At Spectator.org, George Neumayr shares his recent observation:
"Her speech to the new citizens, to the extent that I could hear it, was appalling. Sounding like a Democratic Party ward boss, she urged the new citizens to vote as soon as humanly possible. She made voting sound like a tremulous act of self-defense against the country they had just joined. The exhortation, needless to say, gave off a strong anti-Republican, anti-Trump whiff.

Then she started in on some ludicrous riff about the First Amendment, encouraging the new Americans to exercise that right as robustly as possible, including by 'taking a knee.' Huh? So here we have a federal court judge, who just turned a room full of foreigners into American citizens, and her first piece of advice to them is: boycott the American flag you have just been handed. It was depressing and infuriating as hell."

Fake News: Nikki Haley's $52k curtains

The media continues their attempts to disparage all things Trump.
Their "fake news" keeps getting caught and called out, again and again...
At LegalInsurrection.com, Mary Chastain calls attention to this one:
"Once again, if you don’t want to be called fake news, DO NOT PUSH OUT FAKE NEWS.

The New York Times published an article this morning that curtains in Nikki Haley’s apartment cost $52,701. Buried within the article? The Obama administration ordered the curtains in 2016 and Haley had no say in it! But muh narrative.

The State Department in 2016 decided to lease this apartment for the US ambassador to the United Nations, 'with an option to buy, according to Patrick Kennedy, the top management official at the State Department during the Obama administration.'

SIX paragraphs into the article, the NYT writes that Haley’s spokesman said the ambassador 'had no say in the purchase.' Yet, the article continues to call it Haley’s curtains:"

American Conservatism: Extremist or Centrist?

I suspect most of us use political labels carelessly...
Barney Brenner recently offered some useful explanations at Townhall.com:
"...Conservatives are labeled Fascists, haters, racists and sexists, ad nauseam. On the other hand, “progressives” are called mainstream, centrist. And while vilifications of conservatives abound, depictions of leftist extremes are rare. Democrats are supposedly champions of the middle class while conservatives or Republicans are portrayed as radical and favoring the “1%”.

But how can a movement which highlights liberty and limited government possibly be considered extremist? How do various ideologies compare with one another and where does conservatism fit?"

Progressive Child Abuse in the Schools

Another informative article criticizing the education system...
At AmericanThinker.com, John Scotto included this in his critical post:
"Filling up a young student's mind with leftist propaganda through the method of relentless left-wing indoctrination is becoming all too familiar a process within our modern-day public school system. Scary tactics are now being employed by leftist ideologues, many of whom seem to subscribe to a radical political agenda – an agenda that involves pushing many of their students straight into a collective leftist hive. There seems to be a coordinated effort by many educators who are committed to scrambling and rewiring many students' minds. Many of these same teachers are also promoting the elimination of freedom of speech."

Pedophile’s Decapitated Corpse Found On Judge’s Doorstep After Bail Hearing In Aurora, Illinois

A heavy duty message for sure...
In the New York Herald, James Bleich reported this:
"Smith was arrested last month following allegations by his then girlfriend that he had raped her 8-year-old daughter. After a police investigation in which Smith was found in possession of child pornography, he was arrested on two counts related to child pornography and one count of child molestation.

After being charged, Smith walked free from the court after the judge controversially ruled that he did not pose a threat to the local community, and he raised the $30,000 bail required to trigger his freedom."

SLAPP Litigation Shutting Down Activists, Media

I didn't know about SLAPP.
If you are like me, this article will explain it for you...
Rachel Alexander recently wrote about it at Townhall.com:
"The left frequently resorts to the legal system to shut down conservatives, since the courts are dominated by the left. One way they do so is to file a groundless lawsuit known as a SLAPP, a strategic lawsuit against public participation. It’s to shut down some type of free speech and usually takes the form of a defamation claim. The plaintiffs don’t expect to win. Instead, the lawsuit is meant to intimidate and overwhelm a victim with costly litigation that can last years. Discovery alone can cost thousands of dollars.

The average activist, journalist or blogger doesn’t make a big salary so they’re easy targets. The smackdown also has a chilling effect on others who might be considering the same type of speech or speaking up to defend a victim. "

Global Human Trafficking Now a 32 Billion Dollar Industry

Apparently, there is a lot of money involved here.
I'd bet that a significant portion of it involves bribes...
Chris Tomlinson recently reported about it at Breitbart.com:
"'Exploitation today includes, in addition to sexual exploitation, labour, forced services, slavery, servitude and even organ harvesting. The thing to keep in mind is that it is very lucrative,' Henry added, Franceinfo reports. Henry claimed that an increasing number of criminals are seeing human trafficking as a more viable way to make money compared to other forms of trafficking like drugs."

Baby Boom or Bust? Media Gets it Wrong - Again

We seem to have reached the point where reporting on every aspect of our life is subject to or twisted to conform to a bias.
It is pervasive and almost always favors the progressive wishes...
On the ImmigrationReform.com website Bob Dane recently presented this and more:
"In fact, women in the U.S. are more likely to be mothers than in the past, and they are having more children, reports the Pew Research Center. The Pew study found that women have 2.07 children during their lives on average – up from 1.86 in 2006, the lowest on record. Family size is also up. In 2016, mothers at the end of their childbearing years had had about 2.42 children, compared with 2.31 in 2008. So, what about those dire warnings of a U.S. population collapse?

The Pew analysis is properly calculated on a cumulative measure of lifetime fertility — the number of births a woman has ever had. Reports of alleged declining U.S. fertility are based on less accurate annual rates, which only capture fertility at one point in time.

In fact, the share of U.S. women at the end of their childbearing years who have ever given birth was higher in 2016 than 10 years earlier. Not only are women more likely to be mothers than in the past, but they are having more children."

We Must Call Them Regressives, Not Progressives

This article strikes home for me.
I have long observed how "things" get named is very important.
Advertisers and marketeers have spent countless sums determining the most effective labeling for what they are selling.
Politicians are no different...
Here, at Townhall.com, Joy Overbeck asks to call some things more correctly:
"How stunning that many brilliant conservatives are still calling totalitarian leftists “progressives.” Their dusty, decrepit, freedom-crushing ideas have failed for over 100 years and caused somewhere between 100 million and 120 million deaths – of their own people. This is progress? It’s time the pundits of the right stop going meekly along with the rebranding of the deadly Marxist ideology that even today has starving Venezuelans fighting in the street for bread and toilet paper.

Today’s lofty-sounding 'progressivism,' socialism and 'social justice' has a predictable way of morphing into the repressive, liberty-killing tyranny of enforced groupthink we are seeing in America today and ultimately into a society destroyed."

Can We Trust Experts?

Short answer is not always.
History is permeated with "flat earth" type predictions gone wrong.
There's no reason to think those days are over...
This author, Walter E. Williams gives more than a few glaring bad predictions in his post at NewsBusters.org:
"Former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers predicted that if Donald Trump were elected, there would be a protracted recession within 18 months. Heeding its experts, a month before the election, The Washington Post ran an editorial with the headline 'A President Trump Could Destroy The World Economy.' Steve Rattner, a Democratic financier and former head of the National Economic Council, warned, 'If the unlikely event happens and Trump wins, you will see a market crash of historic proportions.' When Trump's electoral victory became apparent, Nobel Prize-winning economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman warned that the world was 'very probably looking at a global recession, with no end in sight.' Sunlight, Not Suffocation, Still the Best Disinfectant

Bright, beautiful sunlight, i.e. the publication of ALL information, would allow each of us to make accurate choices and judgements...
Recently, at Spectator.org, Daniel J. Flynn shared these thoughts and more:
"Control of what we watch, read, and hear by a few unaccountable billionaires (rather than a market of 7.6 billion people) further breeds distrust, which breeds alternative, often irrational, explanations. Restricting information — think the decade-plus delay on network television airing the Zapruder film — results in speculation filling the void where concrete facts belong.

We need not fear ignorant ideas, only ignorant people. Prudent people can discern whether the government staged a school shooting, the lunar landing, or 9/11. Or, overbearing people can determine whether the rest of us possess the prudence to make judgments on these matters."

How the Press Lies about Itself

At this point in time, if you haven't been living in a cave, it has to be clear to you that the media (in general) is doing us all a disservice.
Almost everything they report is polluted by an opinion and/or bias.
The concept of "just the facts" is long gone...
At AmericanThinker.com, Henry Scanlon recently took a well deserved shot at the media:
"...you can be very much in favor of the free press but against dishonest, agenda-driven reporting – i.e., 'fake news.' In each set, one of these things – legal immigration and the free press – is not like the other one – illegal immigration and fake news – and that's true no matter how much somebody scruple-challenged might bleat otherwise in order to gain purchase on a fraudulent, dishonest position. Make no mistake: all this smushing together of things does not flow from sloppiness or lack of discipline – it is purposeful.

It's how they get away with flat-out lying about things, smearing those they disagree with and whom, therefore, they wish to invalidate, and it's why claiming there is no such thing as fake news is itself fake news. How's that for a hall of mirrors? I'm not sure who decided they're allowed to do this, to vilify you for saying something they say you're saying rather than something you're actually saying, but somebody did, because it's quite a feature these days."

Chicago: Don't Ask Those Who Caused the Problem to Solve the Problem

So, Chicago is what it is, and has always been...
At AmericanThinker.com, Robert Klein Engler recently explained the Chicago history and culture. He included this analogy:
"Perhaps a biological analogy is in order. Consider an anthill run by a Democratic queen ant. There will always be a certain amount of death and waste among the worker ants. That's just the way the biological order is. Chicago, like an urban organism, is not at all different. If a few are shot every day, that's the price the Democrats pay for political party survival. Look at the history of the power structure that runs Chicago to see why no one cares and no one wants to change the social order there."

Democrat Strategy? Rage, Smear, Lie, and Cheat

Boom!...
Here's just part of a post by Patricia McCarthy at AmericanThinker.com:
"The DNC, the entirety of the left and the media have worked tirelessly to sabotage, undermine, and destroy President Trump. He is still standing and has accomplished remarkable things they ignore and do not report.

Fortunately, there are hundreds of news outlets that actually do report the news. The MSM has yet to admit that they are completely irrelevant. When 'Ancient Aliens' beats CNN in prime time, they should realize their glory days are over. All their misrepresentations of the truth have caught up with them. They never tire of employing their reliable strategy of long standing, to divide people into victim groups. That one is fading away.

Catch up with the #WalkAway movement. They continue to make constant accusations of racism at anyone who disagrees with them, even the lovely and brilliant Candace Owens of Turning Point, USA. They attempt to instill fear in each of the victim groups they create. They lie and they cheat incessantly. The Trump-colluded-with Russia hoax is just that, a grand plan meant to take President Trump down and out.

It remains to be seen how many people were and are involved but the truth will come out and, hopefully, these gangsters -- that is what they are -- will be indicted and punished for their many, many crimes. They have done terrible damage to the country. They should all be ashamed of themselves but they most likely are not ashamed at all. They are proud of themselves."

The Liberal Attack on Our Right to Listen

Political correctness, hypersensitivity, mob rule, and the failure to respect citizens' First Amendment rights, are ruining civil discourse in America...
Ken Blackwell began his recent Townhall.com article with this:
"American liberals have always professed to believe in tolerance, diversity, and freedom of speech. However, today’s reality is very different. As the Left gained control of the commanding heights of culture and increasingly business across the nation, the new liberal philosophy became freedom for me but not for thee."

Would You Vote For Trump Again?

Obviously, we must all make our own choices.
That being said, reelecting a President who delivers on his promises is quite likely...
Erich Reimer closes his Townhall.com article with this:
"Given the current trajectory of our country, I remain happy with my vote for then-candidate Trump and look forward to voting to re-elect President Trump in 2020. Challenges and uncertainty undoubtedly remain, as they do with any President.

Yet many of us now look at these upcoming elections with clearer eyes and knowing hearts, as the fateful events of 2016 so proved that all the multi-factor models and chorus opinions of the then-pundits did not compare to our knowledge of how this country truly worked and its people really felt.

2016 was monumental. 2020 undoubtedly will be the same."

Same-sex couple ‘married’ by Justice Ginsberg accused of drugging, raping student

The gay community is not always pure (no pun intended)...
Calvin Freiburger recently wrote about it at LifeSiteNews.com:
"HOUSTON, August 23, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Rising baritone singer Samuel Schultz has accused a prominent homosexual couple whose “marriage” was officiated by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of drugging and violently raping him in 2010, the New York Daily News reports. That year, as a 23-year-old graduate student at Rice University, Schultz says he met opera countertenor David Daniels and conductor Scott Walters at a closing night party for Houston Grand Opera’s run of “Xerxes.” According to his complaint, they invited him back to the apartment they were staying in for drinks, where he blacked out after just a couple sips."

K-12: An Insidious Inside Job

Here is a well written criticism of the education world...
The author is Bruce Deitrick Price. The article is posted at AmericanThinker.com:
"Rogers does not see accident or fad. She sees active betrayal. Education in the U.S. is a multi-billion-dollar industry. Just as stockbrokers can churn an account to create money out of nothing, our Education Establishment seems to specialize in doing everything two or three times. First, do it badly. The following year, do it a different way. The year after that, move the struggling students to remediation, more assessments, and different kinds of drugs. If a subject is taught correctly the first time, you would not generate such vast waste, or profit, depending on where the money ends up.

Clearly, teaching subjects incorrectly and expensively year after year requires a lot of stealth and betrayal. The society becomes dumber; those responsible become richer. Everything that has happened in K-12 is wonderfully captured in the single word 'insidious,' which comes from Latin insidere (to lie in wait for).

Here are some common definitions of 'insidious': intended to entrap or beguile – e.g., an insidious plan; stealthily treacherous or deceitful – e.g., an insidious enemy; operating or proceeding in an inconspicuous or seemingly harmless way but actually with grave effect – e.g., an insidious disease."
