"In traditional observance, the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day. The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon, their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.
Traditional observance of Memorial day has diminished over the years and many Americans have forgotten the meaning and traditions of the day. At many cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are increasingly ignored or neglected. Most people no longer remember the proper flag etiquette for the day. While there are towns and cities that still hold Memorial Day parades, many have not held a parade in decades.
There are a few notable exceptions. Since the late 1950s on the Thursday before Memorial Day, 1,200 soldiers of the 3rd U.S. Infantry place small American flags at each of the more than 260,000 gravestones at Arlington National Cemetery. They then patrol 24 hours a day during the weekend to ensure that each flag remains standing. In 1951, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of St. Louis began placing flags on the 150,000 graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery as an annual Good Turn, a practice that continues to this day. More recently, beginning in 1998, on the Saturday before the observed day for Memorial Day, the Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts place a candle at each of approximately 15,300 grave sites of soldiers buried at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park on Marye’s Heights (the Luminaria Program). And in 2004, Washington D.C. held its first Memorial Day parade in over 60 years.
To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the 'National Moment of Remembrance' resolution was passed in December 2000. It asks that at 3 p.m. local time all Americans 'voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of Remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to Taps.'"

The Interpol-coordinated Operation Libertad saved men, women and children trafficked abroad and forced into work. Victims were found working in night clubs, factories, markets, farms and mines. Some worked in spaces 'no bigger than coffins,' said Cem Kolcu of Interpol's human trafficking unit. Officers arrested 22 people and seized cash, mobile phones and computers."

But now, in our frenzied, post-common-sense state, we’ve modified Newton’s Third Law to read: 'For every action there is an unequal and opposite overreaction.' So local police were called to deal with a matter previous generations of teachers would have handled themselves without breaking a sweat. It makes one wonder. Had this student pulled the hair of the girl sitting in front of him in class, who would have been called? The 82ndAirborne? Seal Team 6? The Foreign Legion? The League of Women Voters?

School District Forbids Parents From Opting Kids Out of LGBT Lessons
School systems, in general, are out of control...

"Parents in Orange County, California may not opt their children out of lessons related to gender identity or sexual orientation, according to a memorandum written by the school district’s general counsel.
'Parents who disagree with the instructional materials related to gender, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation may not excuse their children from this instruction,' read the memorandum from Ronald Wenkart to the Orange County Board of Education.
A school district spokesman confirmed the authenticity of the memorandum sent to us by a parent."

Washington DC Daycare Center Raided for 'Pimping Children' to Elite Pedophiles

"One of the largest daycare centers in Washington DC has been raided by police following allegations it has been 'pimping children' to 'high-society pedophiles.'
The raid follows the arrest of a number of staff members after complaints they were sexually abusing children.
Officers in unmarked vehicles raided the building at Minnieland Academy in Bristow, carrying seized computers, hard drives, and brown paper bags full of other evidence.
Staff members are accused of child sex trafficking and sexual abuse.
Investigators say they now have evidence that ties the daycare center to an elite pedophile ring in the Washington DC area."

Chicago sees its most violent week of the year: 9 killed, 76 wounded

According to the Chicago Tribune:
"At least 85 people were shot between Monday, April 30, and this past Sunday, including a 4-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy, a 15-year-old on a CTA bus, a young mother, several other young teens, a federal agent and two relatives of a gunshot victim waiting outside a hospital.
Of those shot, at least nine died.
The city had been averaging about 42 shootings each week this year, according to Tribune data. With last week’s shootings, the average rises to almost 45 people a week. The least violent period was the week of Feb. 5, when 16 people were shot in Chicago."
California has eight of 10 most polluted U.S. cities

"During a dinner that followed the historic summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, North Korean officials indicated the regime wants to modernize its economy, in order to become 'a normal country,' according to a South Korean official who attended the event.
'They want to be a normal country, a normal state to be recognized by the United States,' Chung-in Moon, a special adviser to President Moon, said during a CNN International interview on Friday.
'They want American investment coming to North Korea,' he said. 'They welcome American sponsors and multilateral consortiums coming into North Korea.'
Chung-in referenced Trump Tower and McDonald's as examples of what one might consider to be 'modern' for North Korea."
