"Did baby Barack Obama live with Ann Dunham in Seattle?"
At AmericanThinker.com, Shawn Glasco recently wrote about the conflicting information on some of them:
"Only 'mere scraps of data documented' Barack Obama's mother's 'days in Seattle,' writes Obama biographer David Maraniss in his 2012 Barack Obama: The Story.
Incidentally, Maraniss was telling the truth: Ann's 'days in Seattle' weren't mentioned in Dreams from my Father and were only vaguely implied in Maraniss's lengthy 2008 article.
And it appears that the only 'scraps' of evidence of Obama's mother's time in Seattle during 1961-1962 was a listing in a Seattle Polk directory and a University of Washington (UW) transcript. And it appears that the only 'mere scraps' of evidence of baby Barack's time in Seattle are a few recollections from some of Ann's high school classmates and a lone babysitter.
In any event, according to the oft-massaged Obama nativity story, we are required to believe that sometime in August 1961, Ann packed up and left Hawaii for Seattle – requiring a six-hour flight with a newborn baby and luggage in tow."
Commandment #1 – Never Trust Republicrats - Steve Deace
Somehow; however, legislation is passed favoring the opposite way...
Recently, on the Townhall.com website, Steve Deace took time to explain about this:
"Yet despite widespread public approval for many basic conservative principles, the statists still maintain widespread control of the government schools, the ruling class routinely caves to the moral depravity lobby, the government continues to grow regardless of who’s in power, and the child killers at Planned Parenthood continue to pick the taxpayers’ pocket.
To understand why this is the case, you must first understand how a Republicrat operates."

"Years of Living Hypocritically: Five Alarmist Celebs and Their Double Standards"

Unfortunately, many idolize them to the point where they become authority figures on things they really don't know much about.
And then there's the hypocrisy...
In this NewsBusters.org article, Sean Long identifies five of them:
" They may be good at making movies, but Hollywood celebrities’ lifestyles are far from an environmentalist’s dream. Their globetrotting, multiple mansion owning ways are inconsistent with the environmental agenda they loudly promote.
Showtime’s new climate change series, 'Years of Living Dangerously,' premiered April 13, 2014, slightly more than a week before Earth Day 2014. It relies on several wealthy, Hollywood celebrities to spread fear about climate change. While these actors and directors talk a lot about reducing carbon footprints and saving the world, they haven’t given up their own enormous mansions and private jets."
"Thermal Imaging Gets More Common But The Courts Haven't Caught Up"
National Public Radio's Katie Barlow posts about thermal imaging:
"These devices — which show you the image of what you are looking at but with colors highlighting heat levels from objects — are getting easy to own and use. And that means consumers could use them to spot a water leak in the home, detect an early fever in a child, and even see animals or people moving at a distance through a dark area. But it also raises an interesting legal question involving the Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable search and seizure."

Nobody’s in Charge - Rich Tucker
After reading this, it's difficult to disagree...
Rich Tucker explains this in a recent post at Townhall.com:
"If you disagree with government-as-ATM, you ought to be able to campaign against the politicians who are making the spending decisions. But you cannot. Last year, two-thirds of all federal spending was automatic. That means lawmakers had no control over it; it just happened. As payments for the 'Big Four' (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and interest on the debt) increase, the amount of automatic spending will as well.
Even for the third or so of the federal government that isn’t on autopilot, it’s difficult to argue that elected lawmakers are actually calling the shots.
Most of the important decisions these days in Washington, D.C., about spending and policy in general, are made by unelected bureaucrats -- 'experts,' as Progressives like to call them."

Poll: 70 percent support voter ID laws | TheHill
On theHill.com website, Mario Trujillo writes about this recent survey:
"The survey found majority support in every major demographic, including black voters and Democrats. The 70 percent who support voter ID laws remains largely unchanged in the past few years. Another 27 percent believe the laws are unnecessary."

Read the facts the liberal media ignores before you decide...
At Townhall.com, Paul Kengor wrote about this a short time ago. There also much more in his article:
"Contrary to liberal demonology, African Americans and other minorities did extremely well during the Reagan years. Real income for a median African American family had dropped 11 percent from 1977-82. But from 1982-89, coming out of the recession, it rose by 17 percent. In the 1980s, there was a 40 percent jump in African American households earning over $50,000.
African American unemployment (which has increased significantly under President Obama) fell faster than white unemployment in the 1980s. The number of African American-owned businesses increased by almost 40 percent while the number of African Americans enrolled in college increased by almost 30 percent (white college enrollment increased only 6 percent)."

"Obama Budget Supersizes U.S. Funding for UN, Global Military"
This is one of the ways our government spends our money...
You can be sure it's NOT going to be publicized in the "main" stream media...
You can be sure it's NOT going to be publicized in the "main" stream media...
Back in April, I saw this article by Alex Newman posted at theNewAmerican.com. I'm sure nothing has changed:
"Among the most serious problems associated with the global soldiers under UN command: widespread brutality, human-rights abuses, sexual exploitation of civilians, mass murder, spreading deadly diseases, brazen corruption, impunity, ruthlessly propping up illegitimate UN-backed regimes, and more. By late 2013, the stench of scandal and horror around UN 'peace' forces was so overbearing that even the establishment press around the world was forced to report it.
Last year, though, the U.S. government still sent over $1.75 billion to prop up the UN’s fledgling armed forces and their lawless 'missions' around the globe — on top of paying for almost a quarter of the UN’s budget. In response to the perpetually ballooning scandals surrounding the international war-making troops, the Obama administration now hopes to reward them with more than $2.5 billion borrowed from abroad or extracted from U.S. taxpayers."

This is a pretty unbelievable story.

When you are willing you identify yourself, you must be serious (and likely truthful)...
Jim DeFede tells this story on CBSlocal's Miami website:
"When the amount of a particular drug inside the pharmacy doesn’t match the amount that the pharmacy is supposed to have, a report, known as a 'discrepancy report' is generated. Normally it was his job to investigate the reports to determine if they were the result of harmless mistakes or criminal activity. But all that changed, he said, about two years ago.
'I was instructed that I was to stop conducting investigations pertaining to controlled substance discrepancies,' he recalled. He said he was personally told to stop investigating them by the hospital’s chief of staff, Dr. Vincent DeGennaro.
'I have no idea why,' he said. 'He’s the chief of staff he doesn’t have to tell me why.'"

2014-05-26 - Memorial Day Observance
Now you know...
As posted on the USMemorialDay.org website:
"In traditional observance, the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day. The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon, their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.
Traditional observance of Memorial day has diminished over the years and many Americans have forgotten the meaning and traditions of the day. At many cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are increasingly ignored or neglected. Most people no longer remember the proper flag etiquette for the day. While there are towns and cities that still hold Memorial Day parades, many have not held a parade in decades.
There are a few notable exceptions. Since the late 1950s on the Thursday before Memorial Day, 1,200 soldiers of the 3rd U.S. Infantry place small American flags at each of the more than 260,000 gravestones at Arlington National Cemetery. They then patrol 24 hours a day during the weekend to ensure that each flag remains standing. In 1951, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of St. Louis began placing flags on the 150,000 graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery as an annual Good Turn, a practice that continues to this day. More recently, beginning in 1998, on the Saturday before the observed day for Memorial Day, the Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts place a candle at each of approximately 15,300 grave sites of soldiers buried at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park on Marye’s Heights (the Luminaria Program). And in 2004, Washington D.C. held its first Memorial Day parade in over 60 years.
To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the 'National Moment of Remembrance' resolution was passed in December 2000. It asks that at 3 p.m. local time all Americans 'voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of Remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to Taps.'"

"Liberals Excited That Less Than 15 Percent of Federal Anti-Poverty Programs Are Effective"
Apparently, the programs instituted by elected officials don't get the intended result.
Are you surprised?...
Are you surprised?...
On the Townhall.com website, Cathy Reisenwitz recently wrote about it:
"The results came out of a report commissioned by Representative Paul Ryan to evaluate the effectiveness of government programs put in place to combat the problem. The War on Poverty, 50 Years Later evaluates the at least 92 federal programs the government has created and finds that, 'Despite trillions of dollars in spending, poverty is widespread.' According to the report: • In 1965, the poverty rate was 17.3 percent. In 2012, it was 15.2 percent • Over the past three years, 'deep poverty' has reached its highest level on record. • About 21.8 percent of children live below the poverty line. "
Aging Baby Boomers Becoming Roommates - ABC News
As the lady says: "Everybody has to do whatever they can do to survive"...
At ABC World News, Alan Farnham recently reported:
"By 2030, according to the Federal Administration on Aging, one out of every five Americans will be 65 or older. The sheer size of the Boomer cohort, says Harrell, plus its declared desire to age 'in place,' rather than in a nursing home, means having a roommate will be what he calls a growing niche option. 'Few do it now,' he tells ABC, 'but more could, or would, if that option were made more easily available.'"

Mexican Cartels: They're Here

Brandon Darby reports on the issue at Breitbart.com:
"The reach of Mexican cartels and their operations inside of the U.S. has been widely reported by Breitbart News, however heavily downplayed by numerous agencies under the DOJ umbrella—especially in their documents released to the American public. In fact, this is not the first time the DOJ agency has omitted or obscured a Mexican organization's leadership in major crimes on U.S. soil."

That being said, they do know that a good portion of us don't pay attention, so they can say and do as they please...
This is the opening of a recent Investors.com editorial. And there's even more:
"Remember President Obama's vow that, if re-elected, he'd pursue 'balanced' deficit reduction? Either he forgot, or he hopes voters have, because a new report shows his latest budget is entirely unbalanced. When Obama released his budget this March, he said it included 'smart spending cuts' and closed 'tax loopholes' that benefit only 'the wealthiest Americans.'
Obama added that his budget would put 'our debt on a downward path as a share of our total economy, which independent experts have set as a critical target for fiscal responsibility.'
As with just about everything Obama says, none of these claims turns out be true. When the Congressional Budget Office scrubbed Obama's budget, it didn't find a balanced or responsible plan at all."
Anti-Business Obama Strikes Again - Larry Kudlow
At Townhall.com, Larry Kudlow writes about the impact:
"When President Obama holds back approval of the Keystone pipeline, for the umpteenth time, it's bad enough that he's politically pandering to Tom Steyer, the hedge-fund billionaire and manic radical opponent of fossil fuels. If he gives in to Steyer by blocking the pipeline, Steyer gives $100 million to Democratic candidates this fall.
Obama's transparent political cynicism is incredible. But it's more than that. It shows his disregard for jobs and economic growth for blue-collar union workers who used to be Democrats. It shows his utter disregard for our loyal Canadian ally up north. And it sends the wrong signal to Vladimir Putin, who probably believes the U.S. will not undermine Russia with energy independence and oil and gas exports while Obama is in office.
But perhaps most of all, Obama's Keystone veto sends a message to American business that he just doesn't care."

They develop over time are often go down strange paths designed to protect said corporations from all things external...
The Associated Press recently reported on this, which didn't seem to get much notice:
"The word 'defect,' for example, 'can be regarded as a legal admission' and should be avoided, the company document says.
Adjectives like 'bad,' 'terrifying,' 'dangerous,' 'horrific' and 'evil' are on the list. So are unflattering terms like 'deathtrap,' 'widow-maker' and 'Hindenburg.' Even seemingly benign words like 'always' and 'never' made it on the list.
From there, it veers into the extraordinary. 'Kevorkianesque' — as in the late assisted-suicide activist Jack Kevorkian — and 'Corvair-like' — a reference to the GM car once called 'unsafe at any speed' by Ralph Nader — are on it; so is 'apocalyptic,' 'grisly' and 'rolling sarcophagus.' Phrases like 'unbelievable engineering screw-up' and 'potentially disfiguring' were also discouraged."

It's one of many that seem to prove that wind energy it's not really ready for "prime time"...
Jack Spencer recently reported on this on the Michigan Capitol Confidential website:
"Unlike other power generators, the only means of mitigating wind turbine noise is by increasing the distance from the turbine to homes or to reduce the power output of the turbines themselves,' Martis said. 'Our review of the noise study shows that the turbines exceed the county noise limits at roughly 30 percent output. If the courts order CMS to curtail their output to such levels, as justice would demand, the price of energy from that project will rise substantially."
"Obama won’t be able to vote “present” on Beverly Hills Hotel and kidnapped Nigerian school girls"
Some (NOT the American media) are unafraid to call out Mr. Obama's reluctance to criticize anything Islamic...
On his blog, Kevin “Coach” Collins gives him a dressing down within this context:
"From his earliest days in public life Barack Obama has done as little as possible. Whenever he has been presented with a choice he will either worm out of the situation, as his disgraceful record of voting 'present' shows, or completely ignore the matter at hand.
Obama’s spinelessness is most prominent in his refusal to confront the dangers posed by the savages masquerading as 'The Religion of Peace.'"

"More workers hired to process Obamacare applications are revealing how they've been filling their days sleeping, playing board games, reading, or fighting with each other on many days when there was little or no work.
'I walk out every day feeling as if I have contributed nothing,' a worker from the London, Ky., Serco facility told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Thursday. "
"DC Schools: $29,349 Per Pupil, 83% Not Proficient in Reading"

Could it be that those previously educated were never taught to understand things like this?...
Could it be that those previously educated were never taught to understand things like this?...
At CNSnews.com, Terence P. Jeffrey elaborates on this:
"The public schools in Washington, D.C., spent $29,349 per pupil in the 2010-2011 school year, according to the latest data from National Center for Education Statistics, but in 2013 fully 83 percent of the eighth graders in these schools were not 'proficient' in reading and 81 percent were not 'proficient' in math.
These are the government schools in our nation's capital city — where for decades politicians of both parties have obstreperously pushed for more federal involvement in education and more federal spending on education."

"Amazingly, Stone claims that metadata within the photo yields evidence confirming “100 percent” that Phillip Wood sent the photo, along with a brief voice activated text, from GPS coordinates which put Wood only a few miles away from the U.S. controlled Diego Garcia military base which is located on an island south of the Maldives in the Indian Ocean. In his post Stone claims that the coordinates are off by a few miles, proving that the iPhone actually sent the otherwise blank black picture revealing nothing else. Stone speculates the picture was taken in a dark room or in some position in which Wood’s hands were bound."

Sights are set on Plastic Bags - American Legislator
I'm sure you're aware of the "war" on plastic bags...
Apparently, as John Eick has posted at AmericanLegislator.com, it may not be so worth the effort:
"The truth is that plastic retail bags are 100 percent recyclable. You may have even deposited your bags or plastic wraps in the bins increasingly popping up outside grocery stores, for instance, which bag producers pick up and recycle.
Plastic bags are an environmentally friendly choice at the checkout, as the vast majority of plastic retail bags are made in the United States using high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a byproduct of natural gas, not oil. Additionally, plastic retail bags make up less than 0.5 percent of the U.S. municipal solid waste stream, according to the EPA."
"Midterm Election Turnout Isn’t So Different From Presidential Year Turnout"
At FiveThirtyEight.com, Harry Enten reports on the "supposed" election turnout effects:
"But turnout isn’t nearly as important as D.C. wags make it out to be. The demographics of who voted in 2012 vs. 2010 were different,1 but that difference didn’t make much of a difference. The reason Republicans won more votes in 2010 — and likely will in 2014 — is that voters wanted Republicans in office, not that minorities and young people didn’t turn out to vote."

Some time ago, Rene Girard posted an article at Examiner.com, calling attention to Austrian history:
"I believe that I am an eyewitness to history. I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. We elected him by a landslide – 98% of the vote. I’ve never read that in any American publications. Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force. In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25% inflation and 25% bank loan interest rates. Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn’t want to work; there simply weren’t any jobs."

Lower taxes have always eventually led to booming economies.
Fittingly, Ronald Reagan's picture is used in the article...
In the U.K. Daily Mail, Alex Brummer writes about it:
"Free market economists have long argued that the more a tax rate is raised, the less likely people are to pay it. High taxes act as a disincentive both to work and to spend money.
In fact, they tend to be a boon only for the tax avoidance industry, which is run by clever accountants whose purpose is to deny the proper flow of money into government coffers."
Ex-DHS watchdog put on leave after critical report - Associated Press
Is it any wonder that people mistrust government?...
On the Associated Press website, Alicia A. Caldwell begins her reporting with this:
"Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson put his agency's former internal watchdog on leave within hours of the publication of a Senate report that concluded the employee was too cozy with senior agency officials and delayed or classified some critical reports to accommodate President Barack Obama's political appointees."

Daylight Saving Time does not save energy
The article highlights the drawbacks and alleged benefits are quite different than what we've been "sold"...
On the Phys.org website, Gail Bambrick has this and more on the subject:
"It turns out that more daylight gives us more time to shop, drive, grill and perfect our golf game. What it doesn't do is cut our energy use, as is the intent, says Michael Downing, a lecturer in English and author of Spring Forward: The Annual Madness of Daylight Saving Time."...
..."The barbeque grill and charcoal industries say they gain $200 million in sales with an extra month of daylight saving—and they were among the biggest lobbies in favor of extending DST from six to seven months in 1986," he says. Lobbying alongside them that year was the golf industry, which says that additional month of daylight has meant more time on the links and an additional $400 million in revenue.

Jameis Winston of Florida State Seminoles cited for shoplifting - ESPN
Something is wrong in how talented sports figures seem to get a "bye"...

"Americans Say 75 Percent of Politicians Are Corrupted, 70 Percent Use Political Power to Hurt Enemies"
Emily Ekins recently posted about this on Reason.com:
"Americans don’t paint a pretty picture of their public servants in the new national Reason-Rupe poll. Americans tell Reason-Rupe that 75 percent of all politicians are 'corrupted' by campaign donations and lobbyists. And they say 70 percent of politicians use their political power to help their friends and hurt their enemies."
The media is turning on President Obama | New York Post
I'm not sure that this is temporary or a sign of the future.
That being said, this is quite an interesting article about Mr. Obama and the news media's coverage...
That being said, this is quite an interesting article about Mr. Obama and the news media's coverage...
In a recent New York Post article, Michael Goodwin reports on this:
"Obama had a free hand to make a mess because they gave it to him. They cheered him on, supporting him with unprecedented gobs of money and near-unanimous votes. They said 'aye' to any cockamamie concept he came up with, echoed his demonization of critics and helped steamroll unpopular and unworkable ideas into reality.
Some of his backers knew better, and said so privately, but publicly they were all in. Whether it was ObamaCare, his anti-Israel position or the soft-shoe shuffle around the Iranian nuke crisis, they lacked the courage to object.
They said nothing as Obama went on foreign apology tours and stood silent as our allies warned of disastrous consequences. Even now, despite protests from a succession of Pentagon leaders, former Democratic defense hawks are helping Obama hollow out our military as Russia and China expand theirs and al Qaeda extends its footprint."
"Poorly educated and lied to, Blacks at UCLA call correcting their grammar and punctuation racist"
That didn't stop Kevin “Coach” Collins who posted on his blog:
"Recently a group of 25 self-described 'Students of Color' held a sit-in to support poor English writing skills. They whined about the 'racism' of being offered constructive criticism of their lack of grammar, spelling and punctuation abilities. As products of dysfunctional government schools, many if not all of them have little or no writing skill. Many of them don’t know they have no writing skills. They have been lied to and had their heads patted so often by paternalistic liberals they can no longer recognize the truth about their shortcomings."
