For sure, technology CAN be abused.
I suspect there are areas in the world that don't even know that photos and videos can be faked.
That shortcoming opens the door for gross misrepresentations and dishonesty...

The Israel Defense Forces website points out the latest:
"Two photos tweeted in the past 24 hours, both allegedly depicting the results of Israeli air strikes in Gaza in recent days, have been proven false."
