"Julia Shearson tells how a weekend trip to Canada became 5-year fight for rights"
This is an amazing tale.
We can only hope, something similar never happens to us...
We can only hope, something similar never happens to us...
John Caniglia tells it on the Cleveland.com blog:
"Julia Shearson felt only release as she crossed the border into Canada on that January day in 2006. She was off on a quick, whimsical road trip with her 4-year-old daughter, Dalal, a weekend break from a frenzied fall running a Muslim civil-rights organization in Cleveland.
Mother and daughter visited the children's museum in London, Ontario, walked the beach at Long Point and sipped milkshakes in Port Stanley.
On the way back home on a Sunday night, crossing at Buffalo, her serenity was shattered on the U.S. side of the Peace Bridge."
