"Open-Minded Liberals?" - By Larry Elder
This article isn't new, but I think it's still applicable.
In the heat of an argument, I've always thought that one group is more inclined to get personal while the other group is more issue oriented so this sounds about right to me...

At TownHall.com, Larry Elder makes some interesting comment before reaching this conclusion:
"Bottom line: Conservatives consider liberals well-intentioned, but misguided. Liberals consider conservatives not only wrong, but really, really bad people."
