Politicians - And their use of our money
Why do I suspect that our local politicians are also no better than this...
The Washington Post's Yolanda Woodlee reports:
"During Mayor Anthony A. Williams's final months in office, his personnel director improperly gave 28 top appointees two sets of bonuses totaling more than $525,000, according to a report by the D.C. auditor.
The 16-page report says Lisa Marin approved higher bonuses than the mayor's office recommended and lacked required paperwork and authorizing signatures. Supporting documents, some of which were eventually submitted, are required to verify that the employees did outstanding work and qualified for bonuses.
Among those awarded bonuses were senior Williams administration officials, including the city administrator, the police chief, three deputy mayors, the chief of staff, agency directors, the technology officer, the attorney general and the chief medical examiner."
