"Herman Cain: Barack Obama Is Not a Patriot"
Very few NON-African-Americans are willing to tell this as it is.
This president just does not convey or portray genuine American patriotism.
Today seems like an appropriate day to call attention to it...

Tom Blumer posts about it at PajamasMedia.com:
"Throughout a Monday interview with Hotline On Call, Cain bashed Obama and his policies. When asked about Obama as a man, he complimented his family life. But when asked whether the president was a patriot, Cain hesitated. After asking for a definition (a man who is working to do what he sees as right for his country), he simply said 'no.'
Cain is a reasonable man, and made a reasonable assertion based on the available evidence."

This was recently reported by U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith in the Washington Times:
"The Obama administration used questionable methods to achieve the record deportation numbers.
In fact, DHS‘ Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) included more than 19,000 immigrants who had exited the previous fiscal year. ICE also continued operation of a Mexican repatriation program five weeks longer than it had done previously, allowing the agency to count at least 6,500 exits that otherwise would not have been included. ICE also used “voluntary return” to bolster deportation numbers, but this is not removal because it does not subject an illegal immigrant to penalties for returning to the United States.
Another media report highlights allegations by some local law enforcement and Border Patrol agents that they have been ordered to stop apprehending illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border."

Investors.com editorializes on the subject:
"Some of the spending is legitimate. But some of the revenues go for roads and bridges to nowhere. In many cases, Peters said, the taxes paid by motorists are funding museums, bike paths, trails and lighthouse repair.
A good chunk of the federal gasoline tax is also used to subsidize public transportation."

Spencer Ackerman writes about them at Wired.com:
"The Arcturus company built its eponymous drone as the unmanned aerial equivalent of a compact car. Its wingspan is just over 17 feet, making it slightly smaller than the Army and Marine Corps’ Shadow drone. Arcturus is “primarily” a spy plane, says engineer Eric Folkestad. Emphasis on “primarily.”
Because the life-size Arcturus on display at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference here has a conspicuous add-on under its left wing. That’s a Saber, a 10-pound laser-guided missile (.pdf) manufactured by MBDA. In tests, Arcturus discovered that the wings of its drone can carry 22 pounds’ worth of cargo, making it a candidate to wield MBDA’s missiles"

The Hidden State Financial Crisis - WSJ.com
My experience tells me that when recovery truly begins, it will likely fix a lot of things.
Unfortunately, until that happens, we must deal with what we have.
Even more unfortunate is the fact that our elected officials don't feel the proprietorship that is necessary to run governments like a business, spending prudently, and actually preparing for times like this...

Meredith Whitney is giving a warning in the Wall Street Journal:
"The condition of state finances threatens the economic recovery. States employ over 19 million Americans, or 15% of the U.S. work force, and state spending accounts for 12% of U.S. gross domestic product. The process of reining in state finances will be painful for us all.
The rapid deterioration of state finances must be addressed immediately. Some dismiss these concerns, because they believe states will be able to grow their way out of these challenges. The reality is that while state revenues have improved, they have done so in part from tax hikes. However, state tax revenues still remain at roughly 2006 levels.
Expenses are near the highest they have ever been due to built-in annual cost escalators that have no correlation to revenue growth (or decline, as has been the case recently)."

This article points out plenty of odd stuff to wonder about...
The World Net Daily website is still hammering away at this:
"During their conversation, Trump told Corsi his own computer expert told him at the release that it was a computer-generated document.
That opinion has been repeated many times, and WND has reported on a few of the objections that have been raised by various experts:
Ivan Zatkovich, of Tampa-based eComp Consultants, for example, analyzed the various layers in the PDF file released by the White House, and concluded: 'The content clearly indicates that the document was knowingly and explicitly edited and modified before it was placed on the web.'"

"CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight has been such a parade of celebrity interviews it’s almost made Larry King Live look like a hard-news show. But on Wednesday night, Morgan interviewed Ted Nugent and pounded him repeatedly and personally, especially insulting him as a 'draft dodger.' He also suggested he was homophobic and not compassionate toward the poor.
Morgan naturally picked a big fight on the Second Amendment, which he declared 'the reality is you end up with what happened to Gabby Giffords in Tucson.' Morgan insisted to Nugent, 'Eighty people a day die in America from gunshots.' Nugent replied, 'Kiss my ass...You are playing the idiot’s advocate.'"

"David Gregory Says 'Prominent Views Within Israel' Support Obama's Speech - But Can't Name One"
Here's a classic example of the media in action.
The experienced media person makes a general statement that was heard by many listeners/viewers.
But it had NO basis. it could NOT be substantiated.
Had it not been questioned (after a break, so it might not have been heard), it would have stood as said.
The stumbling was subtle, and the experienced media person covered up fairly well...

In the Wall Street Journal, James Freeman discusses the debt with a guy who has been quite successful on such issues:
"Mr. Druckenmiller is puzzled that so many financial commentators see the possible failure to raise the debt ceiling as more serious than the possibility that the government will accumulate too much debt. 'I'm just flabbergasted that we're getting all this commentary about catastrophic consequences, including from the chairman of the Federal Reserve, about this situation but none of these guys bothered to write letters or whatever about the real situation which is we're piling up trillions of dollars of debt.'"

Esther Inglis-Arkell recently reported on the IO9 website:
"Adding some ordinary sugar to the antibiotic helps it kill off persisters. Bacteria, persister and not, feed on sugars. Persisters survive by shutting down their metabolism when antibiotics strike, but if they're stimulated by sugar, they just keep feeding. This allows the antibiotics to destroy them exactly the way ordinary bacteria are destroyed."
The Coming Postal Bailout - WSJ.com
Looks like a "no doubt about it" prediction to me...
Wall Street Journal recently commented about it:
"...the Postal Service expects $42 billion in additional losses over the next four years. Mail volume and revenues have suffered what Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe concedes are 'unprecedented declines' since 2006, with projections of another drop of 20 billion letters mailed by the end of the decade, down from 171 million this year, thanks to competition from electronic mail.
If this were a private business, the obvious response to these losses would be urgent cost-cutting to avoid insolvency. Instead, Postal Service management recently concluded negotiations offering the 205,000-member American Postal Workers Union a new four-and-a-half-year contract that will provide a 3.5% pay raise over three years, dole out automatic cost of living wage hikes after 2012, and expand no-layoff protections."

Politicians - Former PG County Executive Jack Johnson
In the political world. there is no doubt that money overcomes ethics on a regular basis...
Julie Bykowicz reported this on the Baltimore Sun's blog page:
"Former Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson pleaded guilty today in federal court to bribery, extortion and witness tampering in a case involving millions of dollars in federal housing grants.
The 24-page guilty plea released by U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein's office details how Johnson and other former county officials took bribes in exchange for agreeing "to perform favorable official actions" for several Prince George's County developers, business owners and their companies.
As investigators closed in last year, Johnson famously asked his wife -- current county council member Leslie Johnson -- to conceal $80,000 in her underwear and flush other evidence down the toilet, according to wiretaps in the case."

Over the years, Americans have been "programmed" into certain beliefs by repetitious, clever sound bites, and political statements.
Unfortunately, this is true about so many things...
Jeff T. Allen points out how we continue to be (purposefully?) misled:
"You see, average Americans have no concept of what it takes to deliver a gallon of gasoline to their neighborhoods -- for 1/10 the price/oz. of the latte they buy on the same corner. Most Americans aren't geologists. And they don't like high prices. So Americans routinely grumble about oil company profits, without any knowledge of the relative size of them or what risks it takes to earn them. Yet it is clearly the government which benefits most from our purchases at the pump, without lifting a finger to make the product.
Ignorance and envy are something our senators are banking on when they rail against oil profits. Our media culture loves to help them."

Then again, they are government; and what would be the incentive if they keep getting subsidies?...
Investors.com explains:
"To say that Amtrak is a failed business is to be unkind to failure. Consider:
• A Pew study found that all but three of Amtrak's 44 lines lost money in 2008, with an average loss of $32 per passenger. Even the heavily used Northeast Regional line was a money-loser.
• Each year, Amtrak relies on more than $1.5 billion in taxpayer subsidies — totaling about $40 billion over the past 40 years. And it's by far the most heavily subsidized mode of transportation, getting $210 per thousand passenger miles, according to a 2004 Department of Transportation report."

At HumanEvents.com, Roger Hedgecock writes about some recent comments by Mr. Obama, both what was said, and NOT said:
"The candidate failed to mention what his campaign website makes clear—under his amnesty proposal, before all of the tough paying of fines and learning English requirements, illegals would be eligible immediately for temporary residency cards that make them legal.
Most states allow legal residents to get a driver's license, and all states are required (under the federal 'Motor Voter' law) to register driver's license applicants as voters.
Jackpot! Eleven million new registered Democrat voters just in time for 2012. "

I didn't see it mentioned; however, to me, the concept of "Underdogma" leads to negative results similar to those caused by overdoing political correctness...
Thomas Ferdousi presents some Q & A on the PunditPress blog. Here's one answer:
"When I see things that don’t appear to make sense, it bothers me. Like Americans protesting against America and cheering for foreign terrorists who would kill them if given the chance, or gays and lesbians championing Palestinians and railing against Israel—even though Palestinians kill homosexuals, while Israel protects gay rights and even hosts World Pride Day. So I look for patterns. The pattern I found—in these and many issues that shape our world today—is that many people have a non-thinking, gut instinct to take the side of “the little guy,” the underdog. And, while this “Underdogma” instinct is relatively harmless while watching the NCAA Final Four, it has profound consequences when applied to big issues like American power."

Obama's Empty Transparency Rhetoric - WSJ.com
There's a lot of criticism of President Obama on this...
Kim Strassel takes a turn in the Wall Street Journal:
"Yet to listen to evidence presented at the hearing, the Obama administration is not only less transparent than promised but in many ways more opaque than its predecessors.
Mr. Stearns ran down some of the promises Mr. Obama made as a candidate—televising healthcare negotiations on C-Span, making White House contacts with lobbyists more open—and compared them with reality. The administration promised in 2009 to release visitor logs to the White House. According to a report by the Center for Public Integrity, to date only 1% of 500,000 meetings from the president's first eight months have been released, and thousands of known visitors (including lobbyists) are missing from the lists."

D’Amboise issued a statement Tuesday morning calling on Snowe to resign after the U.S. Department of Justice joined a lawsuit against Education Management Corporation (EDMC), a company that has employed her husband, former Maine Gov. John McKernan, for the past 12 years. The suit alleges that EDMC had defrauded the government of financial aid funding.
D’Amboise said Snowe has 'directly benefited' from her husband’s financial activity, which he describes as, 'defrauding of taxpayers, pocketing millions of dollars – millions of our hard earned tax dollars.' D’Amboise also said Snowe 'became a millionaire with our money.'"

In Wisconsin, teachers abandoned their employment obligations, and "doctors" may have gone too far.
If the investigation indicates discipline, then so be it...
Mike Johnson, of Milwaukee's Journal-Sentinel, reported this:
"Madison - The state Department of Regulation and Licensing and the Medical Examining Board said Wednesday that they had opened investigations into eight individuals who allegedly wrote doctor excuse notes for protesters at the state Capitol during rallies in February.
Last month, the Department of Regulation and Licensing said it had identified 11 people who may have provided the medical excuses, and it asked them to submit information about their activities at the Capitol.
Three members of the Medical Examining Board reviewed the information and decided to open investigations on eight of the 11, according to a department news release.
The eight being investigated are all licensed physicians, department spokesman David Carlson said."

"Fake_birth_certificate.pdf"
The Osama Bin Laden story has pushed the birth certificate issue into the background. Maybe it's deliberate. Who knows?
Anyway, there are many postings about the image on the Internet similar to this.
And there are postings questioning the CONTENT itself.
Taken together, it sure creates controversy...

"Not only is it a fake, it's a poorly constructed fake. The following inconsistencies can all be viewed... "
"Republican legislative gains tug nation to right"
Now that the pendulum has swung, the Republicans are likely to ignore prudence and overstep themselves into disfavor.
They are politicians, you know...
They are politicians, you know...
This AP News story recrntly appeared on the Townhall.com website:
"In state after state, Republicans are moving swiftly past blunted Democratic opposition to turn a conservative wish-list into law. Their successes, spurred by big election gains in November, go well beyond the spending cuts forced on states by the fiscal crunch and tea party agitation.
Republican governors and state legislators are bringing abortion restrictions into effect from Virginia to Arizona, expanding gun rights north and south, pushing polling-station photo ID laws that are anathema to Democrats and taking on public sector unions anywhere they can."
"Jobless should work for their benefits, say four in five voters"
I'm a believer that everyone should contribute "something", if at all possible.
I guess that makes my feeling on this clear.
But don't hold your breath waiting for politicians to agree...

This was reported by Patrick Hennessy in the U.K. Daily Telegraph:
"The YouGov survey uncovered a widespread public belief that benefits are too generous, with voters blaming the easy availability of welfare payments for joblessness.
The public also backs a stronger sanctions scheme - particularly for claimants who are drug users or have criminal records - and a 'cap' on child benefits, with people who have three children not getting payments if they have a fourth."

"Canada's Conservatives score massive election win"
This is a big deal.
That being said, I'm betting the U.S. media won't say much about it...
That being said, I'm betting the U.S. media won't say much about it...
PRE-LINK TEXT Janet Guttsman and Louise Egan report at Reuters.com:
"Canada's Conservatives stormed to a decisive victory in Monday's federal election, winning 54 percent of the seats in Parliament and securing a stable four-year term in power after vowing to focus on the economy."
"Obama Administration punishes reporter for using multimedia"
I wonder how many more times things like this have to happen before the media begins to report the truth about the "transparency"...
Phil Bronstein has the story at SFgate.com:
"White House officials have banished one of the best political reporters in the country from the approved pool of journalists covering presidential visits to the Bay Area for using now-standard multimedia tools to gather the news.
The Chronicle's Carla Marinucci - who, like many contemporary reporters, has a phone with video capabilities on her at all times - pulled out a small video camera last week and shot some protesters interrupting an Obama fundraiser at the St. Regis Hotel."
"NY state bureaucrats decree an end to kickball at summer camps"
I have to wonder where this protectiveness will stop...
At AmericanThinker.com, Rick Moran recently wrote about this New York Daily News story:
"State bureaucrats have identified a potentially deadly hazard facing our children this summer - freeze tag.
That's right, officials have decided the age-old street game - along with Wiffle Ball, kickball and dodgeball - poses a 'significant risk of injury.'
And classics like Capture the Flag, Steal the Bacon and Red Rover are also deemed dangerous in new state regulations for day camps.
'It looks like Albany bureaucrats are looking for kids to just sit in a corner in a house all day and not be outside,' said state Sen. Patty Ritchie (R-St. Lawrence County)."

"How the journalist prom got out of control"
The relationship between the media, lobbyists, special interest groups, and those elected, is strange indeed.
And why do I have the thought that the Washington Post invited Donald Trump as a setup to be ridiculed?...

Dana Milbank reported about it in the Washington Post:
"Awkward though the Trump invitation is, it is just one of the many problems with the annual dinner and its satellite events."
"Disclosure Delayed Is Justice Denied"
I'm with the writer on this.
Important issues like this are only made more controversial by individual lack of integrity.
Not to mention, a state Supreme Court justice...
Important issues like this are only made more controversial by individual lack of integrity.
Not to mention, a state Supreme Court justice...
Ed Whelan writes about it on the Narional Review website:
"wo weeks ago, former federal district judge Vaughn Walker, who ruled last summer in Perry v. Schwarzenegger that California’s Proposition 8 is unconstitutional, publicly disclosed for the first time that he has been in a same-sex relationship for the past ten years. A straightforward application of the judicial ethics rules compels the conclusion that Walker should have recused himself from taking part in the Perry case. Further, under well-established Supreme Court precedent, the remedy of vacating Walker’s judgment is timely and necessary.
Let’s begin with the relevant facts that bear on the recusal question.
According to his recent disclosure, Walker has been in a relationship with the same man for the past ten years. Walker and his partner evidently live in the San Francisco area."

Meanwhile - in Oregon - electric cars
So how do you think this will work out?
And don't miss how many (few) electric cars they expect by 2021...
And don't miss how many (few) electric cars they expect by 2021...
Joseph Rose writes about it at OregonLive.com:
"Oregon lawmakers are actually considering a road-usage charge of 1.43 cents -- not dollars -- per mile for drivers of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. "
"Glaciers growing on Mt. Shasta" and more
In contrast to the vigor that accompanied what was once known as global warming, these kind of reports are basically ignored...
Robert Felix writes about glaciers at IceAgeNow.com:
"Although the media has done a great job of covering this up, the inconvenient fact is that all seven glaciers on California’s Mount Shasta are growing. This includes Whitney Glacier, the state's largest.
Yes, growing. Not melting."
